Tide Clock range..
From sailing to sandcastles, we all need to know what the tide is doing. S ynchronised to the lunar cycle, the tide clock provides an innovative and convenient guide to tides.
Simply set the 'tide' hand to the full tide position at exactly high tide for your chosen location, then throw away your tide table!
The quartz-driven hand will rotate every 12 hours and 25 minutes around the solid stainless steel fascia, giving you the state of the tide at a glance.
All clocks are wall mounted, 195mm in diameter, with a choice of two finishes: a solid stainless steel radial brush finish, or an off-white powder coated.
Coastal weather station range..
Combining a tide clock, barometer and conventional clock, the coastal weather station is an essential tool for coastal living.
The coastal weather station is everything you need to get the most from our incredible coastline: a barometer to determine changing weather patterns; a tide clock to predict when best to go and enjoy yourself and a conventional clock for timing your escape.
Constructed on a solid aluminium base with a tough protective polycarbonate shroud, the coastal weather station is available in two colours.
Wall mounted. Dimensions: 300x150mm
Weather forecasting with your coastal weather station.
The coastal weather station's barometer lets you track weather patterns and forecasts expected
weather conditions, by displaying the current atmospheric pressure reading.
You can track the direction in pressure changes by periodically aligning the outer guide.
Movement towards higher pressure generally indicates a period of fairer,
more settled weather; while a drop in atmospheric pressure is often a sign that stormy,
unsettled weather is approaching.
How does a tide clock work?
Tides are caused by many factors, but by far the most influential is the moon's gravitational pull on the ocean. It takes the moon an average of 24 hours and 50 minutes and 28 seconds to reappear at the same place in the sky; during this period most areas in the world have two high tides and two low tides. The tide clock has been specially designed to rotate twice each period (every 12 hours and 25 minutes and 14 seconds) giving you a quick and easy indication of high and low water. The quartz tide clock will always stay synchronized with the moon.
There are other influences on sea levels that affect exact tide times and the user should take these into account:
Strong onshore and offshore winds
Changes in the volume of river flows
Variations in atmospheric pressure
The sun's own gravitational pull, when lined up with the moon (full moon and new moon) increases the tidal range, and can alter tide times by up to an hour.
